“I’m not even gon lie to you. I love me so much right now.” – @kanyewest
I may just dedicate all my twitter quotes to Kanye. There’s really no one else reaching his level of tweet-worthiness.
Now, let’s get into this cake-maze business. I had seen via Insta that the whole Ban.do girl gang went to a self-proclaimed “cake-maze” in a DTLA art gallery. So, duh, I was all in.
In the Think Tank gallery space, located right smack dap in the middle of the fashion district, the “Break Bread” exhibition showcases sugary inspired artwork. When their website described the experience as, “a whimsical candyland with a dark twist, Break Bread is filled with floor-to-ceiling cake sculptures, cake chambers, and a nostalgic watercolor ice cream truck,” you could say I had high hopes.
Here’s a glimpse of the Break Break exhibit through the eyes of my snazzy iphone:
Spoiler alert: it’s not real cake. The whole “cake maze” consisted of only a few rooms filled with brightly painted plaster structures, which were indeed very cake-like in appearance. Overall, it was pretty underwhelming.
But if art exhibits featuring plaster cake with fangs strikes your fancy, then you’ve hit the jackpot.
