I swear, I was only going to stop for one week. Then, BAM, it’s 2015, and I’ve seriously neglected my blog with much needed TLC.
But it’s a new year, a new me, and a new chance to stick to my blog posts!
Without further adieu, drum roll please… Makeup 101: Concealer! Tighten your seat belts and get that soy latte to-go, because we’re off to the races, people!
If your foundation is coffee, then concealer would be espresso. It’s a more concentrated, pigmented form of foundation, specifically for blemishes/undereye circles.
Concealer is like Mystique from X-men- it comes in different forms, but is essentially the same thing. (High-fiving myself for my comic book reference.) I’ve shown you below some of my fave concealers of each form: liquid pump, liquid tube, stick, powder, and potted. My ride-or-die is NYX’s tube concealer. I like to think of it as the Glen Coco of my concealer collection.
1.) Concealer goes on AFTER your foundation. I know a lot of peeps prefer to put their concealer on first, then their foundation. Trust me, this is a habit that must be broken! If you chose the right concealer, then it should blend in perfectly after your foundation.
2.) You CAN use two different concealers. Some makeup brands make concealer specially for undereye circles, and concealer specifically for blemishes. I personally use the same concealer for both. But c’est la vie, if you perfer to buy different concealers, knock yourself out! Bobbi Brown and Laura Mercier make the best exclusively for undereye circles.
3.) A concealer brush isn’t always necessary. Creamy concealers can be applied with your fingertips, which is great if you don’t want to spend the extra bucks on a concealer brush. On the other hand, powder concealers really need a flathead brush for their application.
3.) Apply concealer to these areas for best results.
That’s the basics for ya! Feel free to comment below with any questions or requests for future posts! Until then…
